The Georgia Guidestones

A few weeks ago, I visited the Georgia Guidestones; also known as America’s Stonehenge! These stones are located in Elberton, Georgia, about 90 miles outside of Atlanta near the Georgia and South Carolina state lines. They are surely a stunning sight to see in person, and are definitely well-worth the drive! I took so many photos of the stones that I had a hard time picking just a few to include in this post!

What are the Georgia Guidestones?

The Georgia Guidestones are five large pieces of granite rock that are situated in a star-like pattern, with four stones on the outside, and one stone at the center. They serve as a clock, a compass, a calendar, and a guide for humanity. They are known as the “American Stonehenge”. This is because there is much mystery behind their true creation and purpose. The Georgia Guidestones were built in 1980, and their creation was orchestrated by a mysterious man who went by the alias of R.C. Christian, who was said to represent a group of people who wished to remain anonymous, but whom had been planning to build the stone structure for quite some time.

What exactly is on the Georgia Guidestones?

Each stone slab of the Georgia Guidestones has writing engraved in it, of guidelines listed in several different languages; eight to be exact, with one language consisting of the same guidelines on each side of the four outer stones. The different languages include: English, Spanish, Swahili, Hebrew, Hindi, Chinese, Arabic, and Russian. The structure is 19 feet 3 inches tall. I had fun getting up close and personal with the side of the stone with the principles written in Hindi below!

What are the specific guidelines that are listed on each stone?

The anonymous group who created this monument wanted to send a message to the community in the promotion of eugenics, population control, and internationalism. The 10 guidelines of the Georgia Guidestones are to:

  1. Maintain humanity under 500,000,000 in perpetual balance with nature.
  2. Guide reproduction wisely-improving fitness and diversity.
  3. Unite humanity with a living new language.
  4. Rule passion – faith – tradition – and all things with tempered reason.
  5. Protect people and nations with fair laws and just courts.
  6. Let all nations rule internally resolving external disputes in a world court.
  7. Avoid petty laws and useless officials.
  8. Balance personal rights with social duties.
  9. Prize truth-beauty – love – seeking harmony with the infinite.
  10. Be not a cancer on the Earth – Leave room for nature – Leave room for nature.

The photo below is one that I took of a slab stone near the guidestones, which describes in more detail, information behind the Georgia Guidestones and their history.
